| Researchers have been trying to determine how to stop pain by blocking its release ever since its discovery in 1931.
The Pharmaceutical industry has been using powerful drugs to dampen the communication along the neuro-pathways. There are prescription and over the counter medications available. (NSAIDs)*
It’s shutting down the SP pathway, so to speak.
The thing is, as we do that, our body gets smarter and produces more SP. When the drug wears off and the pathways are reopened. There’s even more SP rushing to your brain to tell you how bad it hurts. This is why, over time, you have to take more and more pain killers to achieve the same results. In other words you build up a tolerance. Perpetuating a cycle of pain.
To explain a little more SP is a neurotransmitter. It’s a chemical in your body that travels quickly from the site of an injury to your brain and shouts,”That HURTS!” A small scratch will release a small amount. You stub your toe, a greater amount and broken arms even a larger amount.
Can SP levels be reduced in the body?
Yes. Look at humble chili pepper or, one of the components of it. The capsicum family of plants of which the chili pepper is a member, have the component caspsaicin. It is well-known as a pain reliever and for reducing SP.
By using the pain-relieving power of the capsicum family, you are doing yourself two really big favors. You relieve your pain and you reduce the amount of SP in your body.
If you have chronic pain, it has taken time to build up the high levels of SP. It will take time to start to bring those levels down. As much as four weeks. Now isn’t it great to know that you at least have a way to do it?
Just so you know, capsicum itself may be irritating. You don’t want to use it too often. It can cause an uncomfortable burning sensation. If it doesn’t burn, it’s not working.
There is a very potent but gentle form of capsicum.
The results have been fantastic. Because of the SP reducing qualities of the capsicum family of plants, you’re likely to require less and less the longer you use it, because you’ll have less and less Substance P and pain.
Blocking SP is not the right idea. Reducing it’s release sounds better. The blocking of SP does perpetuate the cycle of pain.
By the addition of homeopathic, herbal and nutritional ingredients substance P levels drop and pain levels can go down. What a great strategy.
